The slightly younger and hairier Viking warrior look-a-like
Ken Dundas stepped up to fill in for Tom MacPherson who is currently away
(enjoying the sunshine and rumor has it a tipple or two). Ken
partnered Gordon James (who admitted he was "pish" in the first set), and
took the match 4 - 6, 6 - 4 and 6 - 2.
Craig Beaton and Neil Miller both served consistently to
ensure the next three sets were wrapped up efficiently to take their match and
secure the tie with all three sets, 6 - 2, 7 - 4 and 7 -
5.
Alan King and Ewan Wilson had chances to take all three sets.
A nervy game cost them in the first and lost on the tie-break. A head-doctor is
being called in to counsel the boys after they inexplicably lost the
second 6 - 1, but regained their composure to take the last 6-4 an win a
valuable point that secured 3rd place in the league.
With a game in hand over 2nd placed David Lloyd, its all to
play for.
